Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In November I caught a purse-snatcher who stole [info]911sc's purse (30 points). Last week I saved a busload of nuns in Angola (326 points). Last Monday [info]chitownshae and I donated clothes to the needy (11 points). Last Wednesday I gave [info]ithalia a life-saving blood transfusion (50 points). In July I pulled over and changed [info]deusinnomen's flat tire (15 points).

Overall, I've been nice (432 points). For Christmas I deserve a Wii!

No subject worth mentioning [Oct. 7th, 2006|02:20 pm]
Truth lost in sun darkened days
I felt the heat of a summer's kiss
Reason scattered to wind
The future, uncaring, so cold

Hands gripping tight, knucles cracking
Sand slipping through
Time comes for all of us
And buries all of us in time

Holding to truth, worshipping lies
Afraid to see inside my soul
The man I was, the man I am
Dying, dying, dying

I face the dawn, shivering
I start the car, and drive
Each day must be met
Each promise must be...

Work through pain
Struggle with loss
Loneliness, the curse of life
Broken by a moment in summer

Good bye.

This test is not for you. It didn't work. You either left too many questions blank, or you are so miraculously balanced between the four variables tested that the test was unable to place you in any of the available categories.

Womp womp wommmm.

You had to be at least 42% of one to get a proper answer. I'm working on a workaround for this but haven't figured it out yet. I suck, this problems sucks. Suck suck suckity.

In the mean time, retake the test and skew it somehow so you can get a real result. If you really are this balanced, uhm, run for pope or something.

Posting slowness [Aug. 3rd, 2005|04:01 am]
Yeah, I know I said I'd post more often, and I'm already in danger of falling out of the habit. PRoblem is I'm so focused on my DA page that I keep forgetting I've got LJ friends as well. Nothing much happening outside of DA, tho. Work, food, sleep, more work, the usual. My writing is taking off, though. Check out my DA page to find out. (I know, enough shameless self-plugging). At any rate, back to food, writing, and then maybe sleep.

New stuff [Aug. 1st, 2005|05:09 am]
Well, I've begun my own Deviantart page, which you can check out at here. I'll be posting to this more often than LJ, I'm afraid, but I'll still be posting here fairly often. For those who don't know, Deviantart is a website devoted to artists (both visual and otherwise). Some friends of mine are on DA, and they're very good. You can check them out here, here, and here. And don't forget, if you can afford it, buy prints from them! IT's money well spent, as they are phenomenal artists.

At any rate, as you can tell, I'm expanding my writing arena. Now people all over the world can read and trash and praise my work. We'll see what comes of it, since I just posted my first piece a few minutes ago. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

As I add more to my DA site, I'll post here and let people know.

[mood | contemplative]
[music |Xenosaga Soundtrak- Ormus]

Well, just woke up, but before any of you people bitch about how I can get up at 3pm, remember I work nights. 3pm for me is like waking up at 5am for people with a 9-5 job. At any rate, forgot to update this morning when I got home from work, and, sinc eI'm trying to maintain semi-regular schedule with this thing, I thought I 'd post something now.

Setting up my folders for my writing projects finally. Need to get organized, it's going to be a bitch to keep this all straight as it is. Glad I got my new printer, since I can actually print stuff now. An it was a hell of an upgrade. Went from an old, old, old HP DeskJet 500 to an HP PSC 1610 All-In-One. The DeskJet didn't work anymore, hasn't for some time, and I saw the new printer in the store in the other night. Talked it over with Maichen, and she gave me permission to buy it. SOmetimes my wife indulges my little whims.

Got a few art pieces for two of the projects, good, inspiritational stuff. Story outlines are coming along, even though they're rough as hell at the moment. Still have to sit down and start learning web design, nothing fancy. BUt I am gonna have to learn about php scripting, how to build decent frames, and a whole host of other things. Shouldn't be too hard, just time consuming. Oh, well. I want to do this, guess I have to do the work.

You know, I always wanted to be a writer, and I thought that always meant novels. When I was kid, I thought comic book writers had the easiest writing gig known. I realized how dumb that thought was years ago, but I don't think it really clicked in my mind until I started working on these projects. We haven't even started on the real concept art or the teaser yet, and I can already see how much work it's gonna be. As the kind of writer who prefers to write novels and the like, I find myself forced to write less, but say just as much. I can't dictate art style, I can only suggest layout, and the ultimate story has to be a collabaration (I know I spelled it wrong) between myself and the artist. My problem is I like being in charge too much. Hasn't been a problem yet, mainly because I've become mature enough over the years to rein in that part of my personality when I need to. I'm just worried that it'll rear its ugly head whenI get really into the project, and lead to a disagreement. I don't think we'd have a fight, but it could make things tense.

Still, it's going well, I think. Probably won't have the comic up before the first of the year, I think. Just timing with work and gaming for myself, and school, work, and gaming for the artist. Plus, we both have SOs we live with, who deserve as much time as our artistic endeavors. I think we're doing an okay job of balancing all that, but I know myself. I'm going to get fired up about this, and want to work, work, work on it, and the artist simply won't have the time. (And yes, I know I'm not saying who the artist is. DOn't know if the person wants the name given out. He/She gets enough msgs about artwork as it is. *shrug* I'll ask.)

At any rate, thought I'd close with a random writing moment, as is my habit some days...

-He stood slowly, placing ihis hands on the table before him, letting his cold, grey eyes sweep those who remained seated.
"I have tolerated this long enough," he said softly, but everyone could hear the clipped speech. "I have spent the last eight days watching you argue amongst yourselves, attempt to cut backroom deals, and basically try to get everything you can for yourselves out of this. Now, let me tell you how this works."
He pointed to one individual. "Your people rely on us for manufacturing and transportation of so many goods it boggles the mind. That's true of everyone here to some extent, but it is your people who rely on it the most. Now, I have watched and listened, and I've come to the realization that your only concern is not the world at large, as you say, but your own petty power base, and damn the lesser citizens."
Anger blazed forth as he leaned forward. "You will cease. You might think me weak politically, and that our people are fractures, and unable to band together when we need to. But you're wrong. Throughout history, we have become the most powerful single nation on the planet. I know this concerns you, and this is why you are stealing evey iota of trade you can get away with. Since you're so fond of deals, I'll make you one."
He straightened up and began to walk slowl around the table. "YOu see, my country is no stranger to hard times, or to the economic realities of the world. If we wanted to, we could cease any and all trade with you. Instead, we lower our taxes and tariffs a small amount, and open trade to everyone else in the world. The individual profits go down, but the overall profit stays the same, or even increases. Think about it. Sell something at a 1 dollar profit to one guy, or something at a 30 cent profit to five guys. oh, I know the economics of the world is more complicated than that, but we can make it work. We've done it in the past."
He smiled slightly. "So, here's the deal. WE maintain trade with you, we keep going as we have been." And he suddenly stopped right behind the individual's chair. "You, however, stop this massive military build-up you've had going on for over a year. The world knows about it, but our media hasn't been reporting it very much. Nothig to concern us with yet. But if I go before the people of my country and speak on NOTHING else for an hour, I can garuntee you they'll start to be concerned. Threatening our allies is the same as threatening us, sir. Neither of us can afford a way. The difference between us on this point is simple, though."
HE smiled again, a predator's smile. "We've always fought wars we couldn't afford. Look through our history. Every conflict we've fought has cost us money, lives, and resources we couldn't afford to spend. The last few wars have netted us almost nothing in material or monetary gain, when all is said and done. But we fought them anyway, didn't we? And we won all but one of them. Hell, we should have one that one, but for certain political issues. Issue which will no arise between us, if that horrid day comes.
"Think on it. Think on it hard. No matter how people think, we've always come to the aid of our allies when the chips are finally down. And we have the force of will to make it happen. Do not push my people, or you will be pushed right back off the cliff you're dancing on."-

Okay, a little obvious for those who pay attention to current political trends, and I know it'd never happen, but I've got my hopes. BTW, for those who disagree with my political stance and want to tear it apart, you won't be able to say anything I haven't considered. Just keep something in mind. Certain countries of the world are using our money, resources, and goods to stage a military build up that will allow them to attack and overhwhelm one of our allies in less than three years. The question is, what do we do about it? Think I'm wrong? The research is there, but it ain't in the news. Do a little digging. IT frightens me. We could be at war in less than three years of something goes wrong, and I'm not talking the cake walk of the Iraq invasion. A war we haven't seen in two generations. A little daunting.

Anyway, I'm done. Enough pontificating.

Creative Minds suck [Jul. 26th, 2005|03:29 pm]
[music |Xenosaga Soundtrack]

You know, ever since I took on these various writing projects I'm working on, I find myself getting less and less sleep. Not because I need to stay up to work on them, but because I wake up early, and have to sit down and write. *sigh* Always a price to pay. FInally got some basic character descrips done for one of the projects, and some ideas jotted down about another. Still working on what to write-up for the game project, working on class balancing and stuff. I really need to sit down and make up a shcedule for myself, but my time management skills blow. So, I guess I 'll just wing it, and sleep in on Sundays.

Addendum:

I'm actually working on other stuff, too, which is only adding to the time crunch I've got most days, but that stuff is all mine, so I can afford to put it off. Especially since the only one waiting for it is me. *G* I'll probably post some of it here once in a while, just to get some feed back and what not.

Hack Choke [Jul. 26th, 2005|04:22 am]
[mood | cranky]
[music |???? - Opening]

Gack, I hate humidity. Makes me feel like I'm swimming through a river of sickness.

At any rate, decided to try and maintain a schedule with updates, if anyone is still reading this. Got out of work, which wasn't too bad today, came home, did some work on writing projects, and so forth. Pretty typical stuff, so I'm clueless as to what to write about. Hmmm...

Sex? Too much whining on my part.

Food? Too hungry to think about it.

Video games? Too behind the trends to be fashionable. Hell, I'm still trying to get Wing Commander: Armada to work on my XP machine.

How about a quote from something I just wrote?

Yeah, that'll work.....

“And, at the moment of desperation and despair, she reached out with her mind and soul, begging for release from this final requirement of her existence. The tears born of fear and loneliness rolled down her cheeks, and she cried out for relief from the existence that had plagued her for so long. And, as if from a great distance, an answer came. Not in words, not in symbols, but one simply and overwhelming emotion: Love. Pure, unconditional, unfettered by the heart-aches of the world. A love that accepted her, cherished her, and gave her the courage to do what she knew must be done. She raised her eyes to meet those of her enemy, and, at long last, she let the rage flow free of her own will, tempered now by that love, made stronger, purer. The rage of the heart, the fury of the soul was loosed within her, and she knew that, no matter the consequences, this was the moment she had been born for. All the loss, the pain, the love, the joy, it had all led to this moment.
She opened her mouth and simply said, “No.”
And with that simple world, the Power exploded from her, and she was reborn."

Not my best stuff, but I liked it. Don't think it'll make the cut for the final project, though. Too damned long.

On a side note, thinking about setting up a web site to start posting some of my writing, but I'm a complete moron when it comes to web stuff. *shrug* I'm a home networking guy, and that's about it. Any suggestions?

Ok, I'm a lazy vanishing act [Jul. 25th, 2005|03:22 pm]
[mood | tired]

Yeah, I don't even know if anyone reads this anymore, but they prolly don't. *G* Even if they do, I keep forgetting to check. Well, I guess I should tell people I'm still around. Still married to Maichen, still working (I"m a legal truck driver now!), still trying to write, although the last was almost non-existent until just recently.

Finished up an RPG with some friends a week ago, one that had lasted for over a year. One of them said something about making a comic based on it. DOn't know if it will work out or not, but I'm working on character concepts, plot outlines, and etc. I'm also going to be doing some prelim stuff for another comic as soon as I get the info I was promised (You know who you are!), as well as helping a friend of mine write his D20 game manual. Mix in work, wife, and sleep, and I've got a full schedule.

But the comic should be good, it's all about magic in the modern world, dead and rebirth, betrayal, love, honor, etc etc. Tentative title is "Wardens of the Storm", but that might change. I doubt it, but it might. Now, don't get your hopes up on seeing it anytime soon. The person who is doing all the work (And she's really, really good), also has school, work, and other paying art gigs, which this is not. I don't imagine the comic will be up on the web before nexy year, though it is possible if we get enough time to at least crank out a teaser and some extra pages. We'll see.

Oh, and so people know, don't ever send me an e-mail to my hotmail account, 'cause I'll never, ever read it. Hotmail is what I use for junk mail and spam-mail requests. I just go in once in a while and delete everything. Other than that, nothing much to report on at the moment. WE shall see if I can actually keep up with LJ this time...I hope. *G*
